" Our hallway bench is a great addition to our home , practically and aesthetically . I use the baskets for dog toys , shoes and reusable bags . The top seat is great and always looks so inviting to sit on ."
INSPIRING INTERIORS

A taste for the traditional

Inspired by an earthy colour palette and warm , natural textures , Hannah from @ harnhamhouse shares her style and inspiration – and how to replicate it ...
Drawn to their house for its convenient location and short walk to Salisbury city centre , Hannah , Ollie , their two cats , Winnie Pooh and Maggie , and spaniel , Evie , moved into their beautiful Victorian home in spring 2018 . Previously rented , it needed a little TLC . “ A lot of the floors were rotten and there was no character for such an old home so it needed an injection of creativeness and life . In the last few years we ' ve replaced all of the downstairs floors , put in a new bathroom and renovated the bedrooms .”
A SYMPATHETIC RESTORATION
Sparked by a love for traditional , country interiors , Hannah admits they are drawn to timeless furniture , artwork and home accessories . Creating a home with life and character with meaningful pieces and built to last furniture . “ I think the age of the house has inspired us , alongside with its beautiful location . We ’ re in a very old and quaint part of Salisbury so adopting traditional , country interiors felt right .”
Before work begins on a new project , Hannah admits she takes a logical – and aspirational – approach , bridging the two to create a space that feels functional yet homely and lived in . “ We want our home to be practical but aesthetically pleasing , so I always consider what the space will be used for . This then raises questions like the right paint finish to use , the type of furniture we want to invest in or what storage we will need . The kitchen has been the biggest transformation . It ’ s so light and fresh and feels really inviting . It ’ s the hub of our home and the room I like spending the most time in .”
AKIN TO NATURE
“ If I ’ m honest , I love moving things around and refresh spaces more often than every season . Whether it ’ s a fresh lick of paint , introducing new pieces of artwork or even just restyling your shelves – it doesn ’ t take much to keep a space feeling fresh and exciting . I find switching up your table décor is a lovely way to commemorate the change in seasons .”
Sticking to a palette of earthy tones – smoky greens and soft neutrals paired with brilliant white – their home celebrates nature and the changing seasons , whilst staying sympathetic to the age and location . Adding in natural textures , like dried seed heads , and patterned fabrics creates interest and a sense of personality . “ I want our home to be practical but beautiful too . I don ’ t want to be precious about the things in it .”
